You Can Be a New Creation –

We hear the words “you are a new creation” often enough in the church that sadly, I think they may have become a catch phrase many of us struggle to believe fully. What does it mean to be a new creation anyway? We know from the story of Nicodemus in the New Testament that we are not the only ones who may struggle with the idea of being born again, which in turns leads to being a new creation. Nothing is made new apart from Christ. We must be regenerated, justified and set apart. It is an instantaneous process that takes a lifetime to complete. As soon as we receive Salvation from the Lord, we are made new, we are cloaked in the righteousness of Jesus. It then takes a lifetime of walking through sanctification, a process that trains us to be more like Him.

When thinking of the most clear example of this process in the Word of God, my thoughts went to several people. Moses, David, Paul…all of these men showcase what it means to be working out their salvation with fear and trembling as Paul puts it in Philippians 2:12. Moses killed a man and buried him in the sand hoping no one else would know. David committed adulatory and had the woman’s husband murdered, Saul (later Paul) persecuted God’s people. And yet all of these men went on to be used in amazing ways for the Kingdom of God. Moses led his people (the Israelites) to the Promise Land, David was a man after God’s own heart and Paul went on to reach a lost world for Christ.

Friend, the truth is, no matter what you have done, no matter what hurt you carry, God can use you. As soon as you accept His calling (of salvation) in your life you are new! Not because of anything you could or couldn’t do. God did not just come for the good, the smart, the rich, the popular. He came for you and me. The simple, the sinner, the poor, the “nobody”. God calls us all to His side.

Today, this very day, you can go to the throne of Grace and have your sins washed away! You can be made clean, be made new. The Bible tells us all we have to do is believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord, believe that He lived a perfect life, died on a roman cross for the sins of the world and that three days later He rose again, defeating death once and for all. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

As soon as you make this decision your sins are washed away and you become part of the family of God. It is my heart that all might come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

My encouragement for you, if you have not made the decision of where you will spend eternity, is to run to the arms of God. There is no better decision you will ever make. You will join the ranks of people like Moses, David, Paul, Ruth, Mary, Elizabeth. God will write your name in the Lamb’s book of life. His will is that not one should perish, but because He is such a loving, kind, gracious Father He leaves the decision in YOUR hands.

As always, if you have any questions or want to talk about anything you can reach me through the information provided on my contact page. It would be a joy to talk to you.

We will wrap up this five part series next week with You are Safe – The story of Hagar until then, have a wonderful week!
